Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Curriculum, Questions, and Lesson Plans
- Who writes your test items?
Teacher Resources Incorporated hires teachers with grade level experience in the state standards and subject material. TRI constantly reviews questions with teachers to insure the highest quality for the student experience. - What grade levels are covered by STATIS© and TRI Booster©?
TRI offers coverage in the subjects of Math, English, Science, and History in grades 3-10. Included in the math coverage are Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. - How many questions are in the STATIS© and TRI Booster© products?
The number of questions in the four core subjects changes daily. Currently, we offer over 10,000 questions from three of core subject areas of English, Science and History. Math is a different story. We offer over 250,000 math questions which not only are available for class room testing sessions but are available for student practice. In mathematics, students will never see the exact same problem twice! All of our questions are tagged with the state’s objective goals and Bloom’s Taxonomy. - Can teachers enter their own questions?
Yes they can. TRI’s Editor for STATIS© permits questions to be added and they can be associated with the state objective and Bloom Taxonomy level as well. - Can districts test online and paper/pencil?
Yes. TRI offers several testing delivery testing methods. No matter which method is chosen, the results are collected and ready immediately for reporting and analysis. - Does online testing provide the same tools as the state objectives test (protractor, rulers, etc.)?
The online STATIS© testing simulates a state’s online testing. TRI provides the highlighter, elimination, and eraser tools, rulers (in both English and Metric), protractor, straightedge, compass and calculator.
Reports, Access to Grades, and Standards Alignment
- Can administrators and teachers receive reports by state objective?
Absolutely! All of TRI’s reports are real-time and are available anytime during the day. Administrators can examine results by grade level, by class room teacher, or by student. The analysis provided by TRI’s reporting system permits data driven decisions and course corrections to be made before it is too late. - How about parents? Do parents have online access to their child’s performance?
Yes they do. Part of TRI’s educational strategy is to keep everyone “in the loop” and informed. Parents will access to their child’s individual report card at any time. The STATIS Report Card is real time and informative. - Are there any other benefit to parents viewing the Report Card?
Sure. Imagine the cost saving if you were to employ a tutor. The STATIS© Report Card provides an instant look into a student’s strengths and weaknesses. Rather than spend a session or two doing diagnostics, the tutor can start right in to remedy weaknesses. That is a cost saver for parents. - Can STATIS report by NCLB/AYP subgroup?
Yes. TRI offers AYP and NCLB reporting for required subjects, categories and subcategories at the individual, classroom, school and district level.
Compatibility Questions
- Does STATIS© work with our Student Information System (SIS)?
The student information a district’s Student Information System can be imported into STATIS©. Once the information is imported, users have the ability to maintain student and course roster changes. - What computers will STATIS© work on?
STATIS will work on any PC running Windows XP or later, as well as NComputing thin client systems. STATIS© Online and TRI Booster© will run on any computer with either Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, or Safari 4 installed, and an Internet connection.
Access & Account Problems
- I can’t remember my password.
Students should ask their teacher for their password. Teachers and Administrators can go to the password reset page to choose a new password, after verifying their identity. - My name and password stopped working. What gives?
Your account may have expired. If this is the case, no data has been deleted, the account has just been “turned off” for the time being, and can be reactivated over the phone. Contact our support department to set this up. The next most common cause is simply forgetting or mistyping a name or password. Our support department can look up your name and password for you.
Purchasing
- Do we have to buy all STATIS© subjects and grade levels?
You do not have to purchase all subjects for all students in your district. Individual or multiple subjects can be purchased for individual schools and grade levels.
