The STATIS Classroom Module

This module was designed for use by teachers during the instructional process in the classroom. It provides computer based teacher lesson plans, diagnostic tests, and automated remedial instruction.  Teachers will first enroll their students in STATIS© and assign them user names, passwords, and Student Response Clickers (SRCs).  STATIS© comes with four sets of our branded SRCs.  (Additional sets of SRCs can be purchased at a price that is typically 40% lower than the price of other commercially SRCs.)  If you already own other SRC setsClass Report, it is quite likely they will work with the STATIS© product suite – we are interested in maximizing your education dollar investment.

Enroll the students and then select the lesson plan you wish to teach.   Students will use the hand-held SRCs to answer questions that are automatically generated by the teacher as they deliver the instruction.

Students are made aware that they must pay attention during the instructional period or they will not be able to pass its accompanying test.  They are also advised that if they fail this test, the system will automatically create a homework assignment for them to complete at home.  The test questions that are presented during instruction consist of key facts covering the main ideas of the lesson’s topics.  Although created primarily to help students to stay focused on the instruction, this questioning session plays a key role in helping students to master all of the content presented. At the conclusion of the lesson, teachers will have instant access to a series of diagnostic reports that will show them where their instruction was effective, and where not, for each student. During a typical week, a teacher will deliver as many as three or four lessons (a single unit of instruction) and their diagnostic tests. Students who are struggling will automatically receive a remedial assignment.

At the week’s end, STATIS© will generate a set of lecture notes that contains all of the questions that students had difficulty answering in all of the lessons taught.  Teachers will use this information to hold a final discussion with their students that covers the questions missed.  At the conclusion of this lecture, STATIS will automatically create a list of all of the questions presented during the week from the lesson taught.

These questions are color coded to reveal those questions in which students had no problems answering correctly (green), questions that presented some difficulty (yellow), and those that were mostly answered incorrectly (red).Review Questions

Teachers can then select the questions they wish to include on the week’s final summative exam. Once selected, STATIS© will automatically create a final SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT exam using these questions and administers it to the students. STATIS© will grade the results and generate a final report for the entire week of instruction.  It will repeat the process for students who fail this summative exam by creating another set of lecture notes and then providing a new summative exam.

Throughout this entire instructional process, students are given multiple opportunities to master the content.  Although teachers are teaching every day, the process is greatly simplified as the STATIS© system will manage the entire process including generation of lessons, diagnostic tests, grading of exams, and generation of remedial instruction.  Teachers will be able to easily determine the academic status of each student in their classes.
