TRI considered the needs of the curriculum and assessment staff of the school system who may wish to have instructional oversight of what is occurring within the classroom. To meet this need, TRI has added a unique create benchmark feature that will enable the Math Supervisor and their staff to create benchmark tests. For example, if the Math supervisor or assessment staff wishes to administer a semester based benchmark for all 7^th grade math students, this test could be generated and distributed to every student at a predetermined time during the school day.  To maintain the integrity of the test, STATIS© will not create this test until a few seconds before the students are allow access to it.  Even teachers will have no possible way to obtain access and this will help to maintain the validity of the student results.

If there are not enough computers in the school for all students to take this exam simultaneously, it can be given at different times, using the same, or new, questions each time the test is administered.  Although these new questions are different from the earlier ones, the questions will relate to the same learning objectives and cover the same material.

This feature will deter students who took the benchmark earlier from passing the test questions to others. Benchmark tests such as these can be created and viewed by the staff prior to their release. Questions can be viewed, selected, or replaced very easily. One of the items that we are now addressing is the validity factor of our tests. We intend to employ an experienced statistical data analysis individual with whom we have worked to develop a validity module to ascertain the validity and integrity of our test questions.

The results of the benchmark tests will produce a wealth of data for analysis purposes by the Curriculum and Assessment staff. For example, STATIS© will combine all of the student scores to report on results from an individual school or the entire school system for each learning objective. When all of the students in the system complete this benchmark test, the report generated will show the average score for each school for each objective. If all Middle school students had averaged scores of 82 and 87 respectively for each of two learning objectives, Staff members can see the results of individual schools, teachers, and students in every school simply by clicking on either of the two scores. This “drop down” feature will instantly show the class scores for each teacher in a specific building. Another click on a teacher’s name will show the individual scores of each student in that teacher’s class.  The system could also deliver a substantial amount of additional real-time academic data that could be “hashed” in multiple ways.  We would work closely with the school system’s staff to develop this “drop down” analytical strategy to whatever degree necessary.

For example, the administrator can choose the school(s) and grade level(s) for which they would to see Real-Time results and analysis.
